Renaming them doesn't allow you to play them, though, because the license only permits playback as .wma. But... you are allowed to make a CD of the soundtrack (but not the mini-pak), so I suppose WMA -> CD -> MP3 may work.

I personally liked the new music. But hey, your preference is your preference.

OST = CD Burning rights from there take your standard audio cd and do what you want with it.
SF = No CD Burning rights

I like having all three installed (and got a chance to test it)
None - Standard Music, a single track per area, only one in loop for town
OST - Enhanced version across the board, generic same tracks for most towns
SF - Only enhances SF (maybe only touches warcamp)
OST + SF + BP1 = Enhanced music across the board, Unique special new tracks for towns that override the more generic loop town track that OST did.

eh? If you don't like the music anyway, you certainly aren't obliged to pay for it. So your statement is quite confusing.
I've presonally bought many game soundtracks over the years, though I prefer physical CD's over downloads.

Thanks for the feedback. I wanted to tell you I was speaking with one of the DirectSong guys just tonight, and he shared with me that they're going to be making some tweaks that will more-precisely place the music that you hear in various areas. It wasn't the intention to reduce your options, or to take away the music that you liked in certain areas, but rather to expand the play list so that you had more variety and greater relevance to what you were doing.
So, look for changes in the near future, and I have a feeling you're really going to like what you hear!

ZenRgy's steps to music on GW.
1. Options > Sound > Music, turn down as low as it can go / turn off
2. Open Winamp
3. Listen to Pantera, Slayer, Megadeth etc.
4. Turn up volume
On a serious note, the music in Guild Wars is good... But I'm not a fan of all the medieval/fantasy stuff etc. I'd rather just use /dance with my necro while listening to metal. \m/
